Bruno

This is Bruno. I met him in Buenos Aires, Argentina a couple of years ago when I was visiting a mutual urban sketching friend. My wife and I ended up sharing a taxi with him to the airport the day we left. I remember looking through his sketchbook and being blown away by the depth of observation in his sketches. I love his sketching style. He is a keen observer of this world.

Martine

This is Martine. She is an urban sketching friend living in Paris. We met in Santo Domingo a few years ago at the 3rd International Urban Sketching Symposium in Santo Domingo.

This is a tiny little portrait on a 4x6 postcard. I'm getting set to travel for a few weeks so I'm trying out these watercolor postcards that I bought in France a few years ago. Kind of a strange texture but interesting results. #178

Dan

This is Dan. We went to high school together in Houston, Texas. I remember his father owned several car dealerships so I would see his father's name on billboards and in television commercials when I was growing up. Dan and his father shared the same name and looked a lot alike so knowing Dan was like knowing a famous person. Funny, but that's how I remember it.

Shari

This is Shari. She's another urban sketching friend. She lives in Montreal but I met her a couple of years ago in Santo Domingo at an Urban Sketching Symposium.
She is a really talented watercolorist. This is another "collaborative portrait" where I painted her and then added a watercolor of hers in the background digitally. I believe that her sketch was actually done during that conference on the beach in the Dominican Republic.
